Junior Systems Administrator Job Summary
The Jr. System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of our Windows-based systems and cloud infrastructure. Work closely with senior administrators to ensure stability, security, and efficiency of our IT environment.
Responsibilities:
- Windows Server Administration:
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server operating systems.
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
- Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Implement and maintain server backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Cloud Administration:
- Assist with the management of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Deploy and manage virtual machines and cloud storage.
- Monitor cloud resource usage and optimize costs.
- Implement and maintain cloud security measures.
- IT Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users for hardware and software issues.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity problems.
- Assist with the onboarding of new employees.
- Maintain IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Other:
- Participate in IT projects and initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Some experience in a technical support or IT-related role.
- Basic understanding of Windows Server administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
- Knowledge of IT security best practices.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MTA).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, or view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time.
- Ability to travel by private or public transportation as needed.
